The way you dress up can make a lot of difference in the way you look. You can look taller, thinner and smarter if you know your body type and dress right. We all have different types of body shape and structure; some are top heavy while some are bottom heavy.

Pear Shaped Body
If you are bottom heavy you have a pear shaped body. A person with this kind of body will have heavy rounded thighs; hips would be wider than the shoulder. Clothes that will help you are tops that are not very loose neither too tight. A good fitting top will bring out your shape. Pick a top with a V-necks, open collar or a turtleneck, you can top it up with a blazer that falls just below your waist, this will help maintain your shape and hide a part of your heavy hips and yet look professional and smart. For the bottom pick a dark colored trouser, dark colors make you look thin thus it will make your thighs look thinner. You can either pick a black, brown, navy blue or even a dark grey will work just fine.
A straight or a boot cut jeans or pants will be better, it will balance the shape and will not get the attention to your heavy bottom or thighs. The same logic will follow when you wear a skirt. An A-line skirt knee length will suit your body, a short or a tight fitted skirt will not be suitable. An empire style dress or a dress that is fitted at the waist and flared towards the bottom will enhance your body and bring out the right shape. You can buy more strapless, halter neck or sleeveless dresses; they will take the attention to your arms, neck and your shoulder area.
Apple Shape Body
If you have a heavy top and a narrow and slender bottom you have an apple shape. It is considered to be very womanly shaped with fuller breast, soft middle stomach, narrow hips and slender slim legs. The cloths that will enhance your body type are shirts with a boat neck, turtle neck, mock neck, shirts with v neck or collars which fit well will look good on your body type. Since you have a heavy top, avoid loose or baggy tops which will make your top look even heavier. Knitted shirts will fit best because of their stretchy nature. Don’t go for a very deep neck, just a little cleavage will be more appealing.
Don’t ware a puffed or a full sleeves top. Wear a lace trimmed camisole under a shirt, blazer or a coat to trim your look. Women with top heavy look better in a low rise jeans and trouser which is flat front. To hide your stomach you can wear front pocket jeans and to enhance a flat bottom you can wear jeans with back pocket, this will add volume to your flat bottom. To make you top look slender you can wear same color on top and bottom and combine it with a contrasting blouse, cardigan or a jacket without buttoning it up. This will narrow your profile by bring a vertical look to your outfit. Wearing dark color will make anybody type look slimmer. When wearing skirts; pay attention on long skirts rather than wider ones.
No matter what your body type is it is always important to wear what is right for your body. Same clothes don’t look good on different people. It is therefore important to know what looks good on you and what will make you look thin. Don’t follow what is in style blindly; it might not be right for your body type. Like we know dark color makes every one look thinner. Similarly vertical stripes will make people look taller and you should avoid horizontal stripes which end up adding extra volume, the make you look wider.
Just because everyone you see on TV is wearing a cropped shirt does not mean you should wear one. It will make your tummy bulge out; try a slightly long cardigan or a jacket that falls below your hips. A dress would also be worn if combined with a cardigan. Do not buy clothes that are too tight or too close. Tight cloths enhance each roll of you stomach fat, and makes you look fat, and loose clothes make you look bulky and wide, thus is very important to wear just the right fit. But a trouser that has a zip on the side rather than on front, this will give you a slim look. You can also use proper undergarments to flatten your tummy; you can find comfortable ones these days.
If you follow these simple rules it will pay off. You can look thinner and much slender by minimum effort and have the best results. So know your body and wear the right clothes that enhance it.
