Design Mistakes To Avoid In Custom Stickers

Avoid mistakes when you print custom stickers at all cost. That money used in printing stickers is serious stuff, and you do not want to throw it away by having badly formed or amateur looking custom stickers.  Let me give you a chance to easily avoid these mistakes for stickers.

Follow some of the common mistakes listed below and you will learn what you need to avoid and focus on. Once you get to the groove, you should be able to avoid mistakes all the time, and instead produce great bumper stickers and vinyl stickers with the appropriate professional kind of sticker printing.

1.    Using too intricate fonts – A kind of first temptation and first mistake that designers go into is the use of intricate fonts. Depending on the custom printed sticker that is being created, amateur designers typically go for lots of creative style intricate fonts that look distinct, special and distracting.

Normally this should be great, but in terms of functionality, for small printed stickers, wasting space on (no easily understood) intricate fonts can be not worth it. People might not get the message easily simply because the fonts are a little bit harder to read. So make sure you try and choose something that is distinct, but also easily understandable by everyone.

2.    Lacking intense colors – Custom sticker printing needs intense and highly visible colors to be noticed. You cannot rely just on the natural colors of your photographs or the simple white background of your typical custom printed stickers. This is the usual mistake that amateur designers commit, as they print out stickers that do not have the potent colors, they realize that these prints won’t look distinct enough against its background.

Avoid this from happening by always enhancing the colors of your photographs to be a bit more vibrant. Most design applications can do this for you. Along with this, try to use more potent versions of your font colors. Once printed, you will see how more visible and more attractive your color stickers are because of this.

3.    Having plain backgrounds – If your stickers have plain backgrounds, then you have committed another common mistake that many newcomer designers do. Plain backgrounds are simple and nice, but they are also typically boring and well, “Plain”.

In this digital world with so much dynamic graphics, people expect more. It is better to use textured background and color gradient backgrounds for all types of printing, even with color stickers. Believe me, you will see a sticker design that is more alive and appealing once you do away with simple backgrounds and integrate truly impressive dynamic styles.

4.    Low resolution graphics – An amateur designer cannot tell sometimes whether the image he or she uses is in high resolution or in low resolution. Of course, it is a mistake to use low resolution graphics. This is because they fuzzy up a bit, once they are printed into quality materials like full color stickers. Just check with your image editing software and see if their resolution is at 300dpie or higher. If it is, then your images are good for printing, otherwise, it if is lower, it will be a mistake to include that in your custom sticker printing.

5.    Low quality paper – Lastly, it is a big mistake of course to use low quality paper in sticker printing. Stickers typically are placed in locations where environmental exposure can degrade paper and ink. If you do not spend on better coated paper, your cheap stickers will easily disintegrate and not be of any use anymore. So try and at least spend on thicker coated sticker materials whenever possible with your budget. It will be a big favour to avoid that harsh mistake in sticker printing.

Now you know what to avoid in sticker designs. Make sure you review all of these once over again to make sure you remember them all.
