Get Your Wellies On This January

As we head into January much of the UK has seen a huge amount of rainfall, leading many to don their wellie boots before leaving the house. If you have been casting envious glances at those with wellington boots it is high time you got a pair of your own, and if you have had the experience of walking around town with wet feet thanks to the rain you will certainly be thankful for them.

Wellies are possibly one of the only kinds of footwear that are both fun to wear and incredibly practical – you can keep yourself completely protected from rain, snow and a whole host of other nasty weather types while also having fashionable and quirky shoes to show off. This is thanks to the fact that you can get wellies in a whole host of colours and designs, so you can really make them give people a taste of your character.

These protective boots follow all of the same fashion trends as any other item of clothing as well. For example, quilted clothing and shoe designs have been huge as of late and because of this you can even get quilted wellies. Similarly, animal print has seen a massive comeback throughout 2011 and into 2012 and you can get yourself some leopard print wellington boots if you want to remain bang on trend.

These new styles can help you to move away from the less than fashionable image of the wellie being worn by farmers – the typical green wellie boot is nowhere in sight in UK footwear retailers and has instead been replaced by these new fashions. If you really want to keep right up to date with today’s fashion you should buy some wedge wellies. These wellies do exactly what they say on the tin – they look just like normal wellington boots only they have a fashionable wedge attached to the heel, which will give you a few extra inches of height. They will certainly come in handy once the festival season starts up again, and if you are planning on going to a few different festivals in 2012 you could even take a range of wellies with you.

Wellies look excellent when paired with skinny jeans, jeggings or leggings, but they can also be worn with skirts and dresses. If you are going into work and you would like an alternative to wellies that you will be able to wear throughout your work day, try a pair of knee high or mid-calf boots that will still help to keep you nice and dry.
