Viasat Welcomes You To The Future Of Internet With Exede

Nearly twenty years after satellite broadband internet was touted as being the next big thing, it is still struggling to catch on among those who would use it the most such as people living in rural regions.  However, thanks to the newest high speed ISP service known asExede Satellite Internet Service, the industry is about to be revolutionized.

Over the years, satellite broadband internet service has been the only way for rural residents and rural businesses to get online.  However, rural satellite service has suffered from poor connections, slow speeds and as a result has left much to be desired as an internet service provider.  But the answers to all of satellite internet’s problems appear to be over with the launch of the most powerful communication satellite ever built.

ViaSat, which bought WildBlue in 2009 has recently invested approximately $400 million in this new satellite in order to change the way we think about satellite broadband internet.  In fact, the company has also spent millions more in a network of ground stations and a terrestrial fiber network in order to make satellite internet comparable to DSL and cable connections.  Experts believe that this move will do for satellite internet service what Hyundai has done for the image of Korean cars.

However, there is a lot riding on the satellite itself.  This new communication satellite will offer bandwidth which is better than most DSL services. For examples, Exedesatellite servicewill offer twelve megabits per second download and three megabits per second upload.  This is because ViaSat1 provides an extremely large thresh-hold for input between customers and the service’s twenty terrestrial teleports located throughout the United States.  Each of these ground stations has gigabits of capacity which are also connected to the internet through high capacity peering points.

In addition, this satellite is powerful enough to cover the vast majority of theUnited States.  In fact, this one bird will reach 75% of the U.S. with the other 25% located in the Rocky Mountain time zone being covered by previous satellites.  These birds will also get an upgrade in service thanks to the investment that ViaSat has made in the ground stations.  The coverage zones were prioritized to reach the largest potential audience.  With such good coverage and fast speeds,Exede Satellite servicewill not only be something that rural residents can enjoy, but will also give DSL and cable a run for their money in urban centers.  In addition, any gaps which are left over will be covered by the launch of ViaSat 2 in upcoming years.

While there will still be somewhat of a lag because of physics such as the distance the signal must cover, playing online video games may not be possible, but everything else is available.  This will be a great improvement over the slow internet speeds that many in rural regions have become accustomed to over the past several years.
