Mysql – Most Popular Open Source Database In The Planet

MySQL can be said as the world’s most popular open source data base. MYsql is currently developed distributed and managed by ORACLE cooperation. My SQL is a RDMS – Relational database management system that allows user to connect with lot of other databases. My SQL was developed by  Michael Widenius  in the year  1995. My SQL is written in C and C++ and is a cross platform database that is it can be used in various platforms. MySQL is open source as its source code can be available for free.  My SQL was owned by a Swedish company MySQL AB but its currently owned by the ORACLE cooperation. Now lets trake a look of the features of MySQL that make it the favorite in the cyberspace

• MySQL is used in  developing many major web applications and is the backbone of LAMP( linux Apache MySQL  perl/php/phython) and WAMP (windows Apache MySQL perl/php/phython )
• MySQL is user friendly and is used in the most popular websites in internet such as Facebook, Google, YouTube, Wikipedia
• Almost all leading programming languages has defined libraries for accesing MySQL
• MySQL is originally written in C and C++ and its paster is written in yacc
• MySQL  works in many operating systems like Linux, windows, Solaris, SunOS, symbian Mac OS and many more
• True varchar is supported
• MySQL works in client/server or embedded systems
• SSL support and query caching is there in MySQL
• MySQL has an embedded database support and partial unicord is also supported
• Backup can be obtained by using “mysqlhotcopy”
• MySQL allows the user to chose their desired storage engine from available storage engines this is a feature that other Relational database management systems(RDMS) do not posses
• Community developed storage engines are another main feature of MySQL which is not present in other RDMS
• MySQL supported software are available in large number so the programmer can make the website better.

Let’s now see some of the advantages of Indexing of MySQL into database

• Optimization of queries .Search queries are made much faster by Indexes
• Duplication of row data is avoided by indexes like primary key index  and unique index

MySQL is easy to install and understand. Being open source is another important advantage of MySQL because of the huge popularity of MySQL a lot of technical help is available in internet. There are many Tec forums in which experienced programmers post their experience with MySQL and way of making my SQL better. More information can be available in their official website.
