Watch BCS Championship Online. No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Alabama will square off in New Orleans in the BCS National Championship Game in arguably the most anticipated rematch in college football history.
Watch 2012 BCS Championship Online. LSU won a 9-6 overtime contest when two teams met earlier in the season on Nov.5 in Alabama. The game did not feature a single touchdown.
Since the BCS' inception in 1998, LSU has won two national championships. The first came after the 2003 season, the second after the 2007 season. Both of those championships were won in New Orleans, where this game will be played.
Alabama won the national championship following the 2009 season, beating Texas.
This will be the fifth consecutive season that an SEC team will win the National Championship. Florida won in 2006 and 2008, LSU in 2007, Alabama in 2009 and Auburn in 2010.
Alabama offensive coordinator and Colorado St. Rams head coach McElwain will be able to some recruiting for the Rams simply by having Richardson attack the LSU defense throughout the game. In the final weeks of recruiting, McElwain will be able to tell his recruiting targets that they, too, could be turned into future college and NFL stars (though the latter must wait for Richardson).
It's not going to be easy for McElwain to revive the Colorado State football program, but he'll likely bring his SEC heritage to the school.
The 2012 BCS Championship game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the LSU Tigers will feature two teams oozing with NFL talent. Versatile junior left tackle Barrett Jones could wait to make his decision about staying in school another year or heading to the NFL after the Championship game. Not only has Jones excelled at the left tackle position, but he's played every position on the Tide's offensive line except for right guard, which is where he started for the 2009 and 2010 season. Just didn't want to think about the NFL right now, however.
"My mindset right now is I just want to play this game and focus on that right now," he said. "After that, I'll have a few days to make a final decision with my family," Jones told the Dothan Eagle. "Obviously, I've been thinking about it some and talking to my family. Listing the pros and cons, that kind of thing. But, yeah, I just want to get done, see how the game turns out and decide from there."
The BCS National Championship game will set the tone for the 2012 season. A Tigers loss and Coach Les Miles will have a tough time living down a defeat to Alabama in the title game, even if he goes on to win a couple of championships before he retires his hat.
Izzy Gould of the Tuscaloosa Bureau quoted Alabama receiver Brandon Gibson, who seemed optimistic about his team's chances in the rematch vs. LSU.
