Before buying sapphire rings it would be helpful and interesting to know the origin of a sapphire. Sapphire origin is both natural and manufacturing. They have many uses, not just as exquisite gems found in sapphire rings, necklaces, broaches, earrings and other jewellery items, but also as optical components used in electronics. The natural structure of sapphire makes it very durable which makes it very difficult to scratch or crack its surface. Thus, the sapphire is also useful in making the watch faces in expensive watches and can also be used in making the high quality windows as it possesses great strength .It is still possible to damage the surface of sapphire as it is not the hardest substance known to man. If it is made in contact with diamond or silicon carbide, it can possibly damage its surface.
Manufacturing of sapphire is done in large crystal boules. Naturally the sapphire rings get a single crystal of the sapphire which is of aluminium oxide form which is s mineral recognized as corundum. Commonly, we consider the blue colour of a sapphire. It gains this colour when small amount of iron and chromium are found. It comes in different varieties of colours depending up on the amount of iron and chromium which are inclusion together with certain other types of minerals. Pink, green, yellow, purple, red and orange sapphires can also be found. These all gems can be polished and used as sapphire engagement rings. To ensure the vibrancy of the colour that is released, it takes a true craftsmanship to cut the stone. One poor cut of the gem can produce a dull appearance of a blue colour which will be too dark.
Sapphires are found in locations such as Thailand, India, Ceylon, Brazil, Africa, Burma Vietnam and Australia. These all places are exotic that is why sapphire is located in these locations. Sapphire is now popular for their use in sapphire engagement rings. Couples consider these rings when it comes to celebrating a special relationship at a special occasion. Many men and women wear these rings in many parties and occasions which also compliments their wardrobe. Other than blue or red, fancy sapphires are also considered to have a couple of other nice shades of colour. The darker the colour, the higher the value is. Pink sapphire have traces of chromium and purple sapphire has traces of the element vanadium and yellow and green sapphires have traces of iron.
