An Actress With Veratility : Konkana Sen Sharma

Konkona Sen Sharma is one of India's leading actresses and has performed a lot of films in Hindi film industry. When you speak about Konkona Sen Sharma, keep in mind that she isn't a traditional Hindi film actor who has just acted in some movies and has just portrayed some characters. She has the credit of winning a National Award and has convincingly acted in both mainstream and art films. Her sensitivity in acting has made her a reputed actress in new wave cinema.

Born to Mukul Sharma, a journalist on the subject of science and Aparna Sen, acclaimed film maker and actress, Konkona Sen Sharma made her debut through Indira as a child artist. Ek Je Achhe Kanya, a Bengali suspense film released in 2000, was the 1st film she performed in.

Konkona Sen Sharma got national recognition through the movie Mr and Mrs Iyer, in which she performed as a Tamilian mother. Her portrayal of the role of a journalist in Page 3 got a 'thumps up' from the film lovers. After this film she has acted in many more films, for which she has got great critics. She got the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award successively for two years for the movies Omkara and Life In A Metro.

Her versatility was proved after she convincingly portrayed the role of a psychologically ill woman in 15 Park Avenue and breathed life into the character of a prostitute in Traffic Signal. Under mainstream movies, she appeared in 2 films of Yash Raj Films. Naamkoron was her short film with duration of eighteen minutes. This short film was screened at the Kala Ghoda Film Festival.

Mira Nair's short film called 8, For How Can It Be?, saw Konkona Sen Sharma performing a role. She can also be seen in the Hollywood movie, The President Is Coming. She received good comments for her lead role with Farhan Akhtar in the film Luck By Chance. She experimented with comedy genre and appeared in Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge and Wake Up Sid.

For the first time she acted in a play named The Blue Mug, which also had Vinay Pathak, Sheeba Chadha, Rajat Kapoor and Ranvir Shorey. People saw her as an anchor through the National Geographic Channel in a show My Brilliant Brain. Audiences can see her stunning performances in a few of the forthcoming movies like Mirch, Jackpot and Sunglasses
