If there are some things that you should do in order to get effective postcard printing and commercial printing, there are also those things that you would want to avoid if you do not want to be faced with unnecessary conflict and stress. Unless, of course, you are masochistic and want to take the hard way to your goals, you should really know what these “don’ts” are and how you will use this knowledge to better your full color postcards, photo postcards, and custom postcards. Your commercial printing company will no doubt help you along the way but really if there is something you can do to make the whole process go much more smoothly, there is no reason not to do it. Here are some of the things to skip when producing your high quality prints or cheap postcards.
Ambiguity. Any person who know about quality print designs will tell you that if you want to avoid any sort of problematic confusion with your transactions, you better make your prints as clear and as unambiguous as possible. When your publicity material means one thing and can be taken to mean something else, you cannot really say that your print is any good. Double meanings and sexually suggestive content are a whole different story altogether, but the general rule is that you do not put in any of these things as much as possible. It takes special skill to work ambiguous messages to your advantage and if you feel that you have this skill, go for it; otherwise, forget about it.
Offensive content. If it is hard to twist things around so that ambiguous content works for you, it is almost impossible to do the same with offensive content. This refers to a wide variety of topics including but not limited to racial slurs, social discrimination, sexism, and a whole lot of other offensive topics. If you are thinking of something shocking or attention-catching, it is better not to consider going this path at all because there are many things you can do in order to gain the attention of an audience without offending a good portion of them.
Lies. There is only so much truth-twisting you can do before things start to backfire on you so it is better to tell the truth—or something close to it—in the first place. There is something called “false advertising” and while many people can get away with horribly twisted facts and hidden truths, you would do better not to try this for your own business needs. Remember that your commercial prints are a reflection of your own personality and integrity, and anything that compromises or threatens to compromise this should be completely avoided.
If you have gone for so long and realize that you have been putting in any of the things listed above, you best consider changing your habits in order to make the most out of your cheap postcards and postcard printing. After all it would not do to make some prints in order to get some good publicity, only to fail because you were careless with the content.
