Trying to get pregnant? Having a baby is the best experience in a women’s life. It involves a lot of mental, physical and emotional preparation. Here are a few tips that can help you conceive a baby and help you enjoy a happy and healthy pregnancy.
Health
Make sure you visit a gynecologist to know if you are ready to have a baby. Have your weight and blood pressure be checked. Have the gynecologist check you for any infection that you might have had. Also find out what vaccination you need to take and at what stage.
Food
Pay attention to internal health and nutritious diet. Include lots of fresh fruits and vegetables to you diet. Have a lot of dairy products, fruit juices and high protein food like fish, meat, poultry, eggs, tofu, nuts, breakfast cereals high in iron content and proper intake of vitamins as recommended by your doctor.
Avoid – Stop drinking, smoking and caffeine intake.
Workout
Add a brisk walk to you daily regime. A workout would also help. This will not only allow you to remain fit and relaxed but also prepare your body for the coming changes. Share your health status with your gynecologist. Let her know if there is any medical history of your family members, to get things clear and under control before you can take a step further.
Fertility
To know if the time is right your gynecologist can help. But if you want to know yourself there are 3 methods that can help.
One being the rise in your body temperature, this is the easiest method. The temperature remains low prior to ovulation and after ovulation the temperature increases. So the best time would be to try before the temperature shoots up. You can keep a record of your body temperature with the help of a sensitive thermometer available at the chemist. Make a graph for your reference. This will help you to know what it is the right time.
Second method is checking the cervical mucus. Before the ovary releases an egg the body creates a sperm friendly environment. This is done by producing the cervical mucus, which is not only sperm friendly but it also helps it reach the egg. As the body is getting ready the discharge will be sticky or creamy but when the body is fertile it resembles and egg white consistency.
And third method is to check the cervix which is present at the upper end of the vagina. Once your periods have ended lie down with your legs raised, remember to always check with the same position to compare. Relax and insert your middle finger slowly inside the vagina. You will feel a hard muscle, this is your cervix. It will be low and feel hard & mucus free when you are not fertile, but when you are fertile it rises to the top and is much softer. It opens up to let the sperm enter.
Spice It Up
Have tons of sex. Make sex fun and exciting, but be sure to make your vagina sperm friendly. Avoid sprays, artificial lubrication and even saliva. Don’t be in a hurry to clean up, lie down for a few minutes after sex this helps the sperms to travel to their destined egg. So no more sex in a rush, enjoy every bit of it.
Emotional Strength
It is very difficult to be prepared for a baby. You have to accept the fact that you are putting everything on hold for this. The father will be there but he will not be going through what the mother will. He will not experience the physical or even the emotional changes. Any woman who decides to have a baby needs to focus her entire energy on the baby. If it becomes too difficult for you to emotionally handle yourself, please go for help it is just a phase that will pass. And once you have your baby in your hand you will know it was all worth it.
