Close Protection And Security

It can take a lot of time an effort to become a security professional. A unique challenge can be presented when working in a close protection environment, this means that unique people will best fit the job.
Firstly, the assumption that, to be successful in this line of work, you need to be a colossal mountain of a person is unfounded. Those working as close protection professional are all manner of statures. You will not be automatically successful, or discarded, because of your size or appearance, although being well groomed and presented professionally is a must at all times.
It is evident that you need to be a responsible, mature adult to pursue a career path such as this. People skills can really make the difference and small details, such as the difference between being a minute early and a minute late, matter.
If you want to work in the close protection environment, it is important you have good people skills. You will speak to people from all walks of life on a day to day basis, from a high powered executive to the supermarket shelf stacker. The ability to speak to individuals of all backgrounds and behaviours is a crucial skill. This skill will be being monitored from your very first interview. You will struggle with your application and interview if you do not have a high level of communication skills.
Another important one is common sense. As a bodyguard, you will need to be constantly switched on to your surroundings, closely monitoring developing situations. You need to be conscientious and be able to make the right decisions at the right time depending on the situation you are in. If you want to make sure you are credible as a close protection officer then confidence is one of the key attributes you must have. Your clients will place their absolute trust in you abd this come from the confidence that you portray. Confidence in yourself will lead to confidence being shown in you by others. If you are a naturally shy or reserved person, don't panic. You can teach yourself, through self-help books or courses and in time you will develop more confidence.
Lastly, importantly, do not underestimate the need to be a team player in this industry. Team work is the thing that brings your other skills together and glues all your attributes to form a close protection professional. Your team must always be your first priority in this line of work and comes before all else. Should you feel you are unable to adhere to these guidelines then you may want to reconsider being a close protection professional.
